FAQs
What is Natureza?
Natureza is a religious and spiritual community in Kentucky centered around the reverent communion with sacred plant teachers. We view our gatherings as deeply spiritual ceremonies rather than recreational events.
What is the sacrament used during ceremonies?
Our primary sacrament is ayahuasca, a traditional botanical tea brewed from Amazonian plants (Banisteriopsis caapi and Psychotria viridis). We honor it as a living spirit and a divine tool for prayer, healing, and inner transformation.
Are ceremonies open to the general public?
No. Participation requires completing our membership application, a personal interview, and health screening. This vetting ensures that every participant arrives with sincere spiritual intent and physical safety.
Who cannot partake in the ceremony?
For safety reasons, you cannot drink the sacrament if you have a history of psychosis, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, active heart conditions, or high blood pressure. Furthermore, taking certain medications—especially SSRIs (antidepressants), other MAOIs, or stimulants—creates a dangerous, potentially fatal medical interaction.
How should I prepare for a ceremony?
Participants must follow a strict preparatory diet (often called a dieta) for at least one to two weeks prior. This includes abstaining from recreational drugs, sex, alcohol, caffeine, processed foods, red meat, and certain fermented or aged items to clear the body safely.
